Benjarong - (Thailand Resturant)

Benjarong is a Thailand Resturant located @ 146, TTK Road, Alwarpet, Chennai (Near Adayar Gate). The ambiance is great and we can listen to the Thai music ;).

The Thailand traditional Appetizer was served as a complimentary item to us once we place the order for the Starters. It comprises of fried coconut pieces, nuts, chillies, Ginger, Lemon. It was really good. Initially we were thinking to give a try, at last we had 2-3 rounds. The soup ordered was "TOM YAM GAI" Chicken Soup. We could find some small straw kind of stuff,Lemon and ginger. The smell was a bit odd for a chicken Soup, still the soup was awesome.

I could find a lot of starters, but i am not used to these Thai food before. So, We ordered "KHAO PHAD GAI" (Grilled Chicken and Capsicum) to be in the safer side. The price of this is Rs 188/-, which had just 4 medium sized Grilled Chicken pieces. Even-though this is a normal dish the taste is some thing odd which i haven't tasted before. "PLA MEUK TOD NAM PR" (A kind of Squid) Rs 278/-, even this has a different sense of taste.

We ordered for only one main course "GAI YANG" (Chicken Fried Rice with egg). I can say this as the best fried rice i had till now ;). This one costs Rs 298/- and it is really worth it. The dish we ordered for the Main course is "POO PHAD CHA" (Crab) Rs 428/-. The crab is also a bit different than the crab we used to have. I can find a lot of Pepper (with the steak) in this one.

Overall i can say the whole taste is completely different from the one we used to have, however if you had Thai food before you may not feel the difference, i am not sure. Also i feel that all the dishes are overpriced. A Fried Ice Cream with 5 balls costs Rs 168/-. If you are a Thai food lover then this is a must visit place for you, otherwise you can try once if you can spend a minimum of Rs 750/- per head.

Seashell Restaurant

Seashell has a group of restaurants across India and in UAE. Last week i visited Seashell @ Anna Nagar. It is basically a arabic style restaurant. We got the slot as we went a bit late.

The ambiance was really good .We can find a wide range of arabic kebabs, however we did't try them that day. Dragon Chicken and Fish Finger was amazing. Spring rolls was good. I can say that the food was really good. We were able to get the ordered food in time, might be because we went a bit late. Now about the price. I can say the dishes are priced decently and they are worth for it.

It is a place to hang out and peoples near Anna Nagar don't miss it.

Seasons Mutli-Cusine Resturant - "A Pleasant Dine-in"

It was really a pleasant to dine @ The Seasons Multi Cusine Resturant located above the Bata Showroom on the Velachery-Tambaram High Road just after the rajakilpakkam junction. Today i had my dinner there. We started with the Hot & Sour Chicken Soup, It was nice. Chicken 65, Chicken Spring Roll and the Chili Egg was really good. I don't find the Fish finger appealing. Other dishes were ok.

The serving was good and fast enough to keep ourselves busy. We can't expect a great ambience as this is not a A Grade Multi Cusine Resturant. It is a place where you can get a good Value or Money. All the dishes were decently priced. Most of the dishes are priced less that 100rs. Some of the fish variants like Fish Finger, Fish Tiika, Pukked Fish, Garlic Fish, Dragon Fish costs arround 120rs. A full tandori costs just arround 170 rs. I didn't had any of the tandori dishes other than the Fish Tikka and i don't find the Fish tikka as good as the other dishes.

Initially when we were in, there were very few seated in the restaurant. But once the house is full the waiters were struggling to serve us, They don't have ample peoples to get the orders. However they were trying to address all their customer to their level best. Hope they will improve in this.

They don't have desserts and fresh juices and i feel it is a must have for such a resturant. You can have the soft drinks from Coke-a-Cola co.. If you wanna have some good food in and arround Seliyur,Rajakilpakkam, Santhosapuram, Gowrivakkam you can visit this one. Hope you will enjoy and have a pleasant dine-in.

Farm House - Uthandi, ECR

Last week I had to attend a birthday treat of my roommate. We were searching for some good multi cuisine restaurant since we don’t want to go to an Indian/Chetinad restaurant. Since we fixed our mind in multi cuisine restaurant we searched burrp.com for help. Usually we use this site to search for restaurants. Finally we landed on "The Farm House" in ECR near Uthandi.

The restaurant was very easy to locate as it is located on ECR. Once I saw the restaurant, I felt it as an ordinary restaurant, but I got impressed by the water fall which was placed just adjacent to the AC hall. We went to the AC hall since it was noon. The open air place also looked very beautiful. The AC hall was furnished superbly particularly the ambience was very neat, the table was kept clean.

The waiter who came to take order was very decent with the way he approached. The menu was clearly explained but the waiter didn't show any patience. He was not ready to listen to the order which we are going to place, but he went away when we were discussing what to order. The serving time was ok but we could see the flies flying around us here and there. The soup tasted ok, i ordered cream of chicken soup which was really good. My friends ordered sweet corn non-veg soup and spinach with mushroom soup but i dint hear them complaining of those soups either. For starters we ordered non veg platters like sea food platter, chicken platter both in tandoori as well as chinese style. The chinese platters were good and it has some good dishes too. The tandoori platter was not up to my expectation. The sea foods were not cleaned properly as i can find some hairs or tentacles or whatever in the sea food platter. Chicken items were good but not too impressive to invite us the next time. Even the customer care was not very impressive, i saw what happened to one customer, as a waiter and the manager literally fought with the customer.
The accessories were not placed properly as the waiter took the sauces off the table once the starters came, even forks were not given in adequate quantity. I have to ask the waiter for my fork not once but twice. The waiter tooked time to respond to what we order. when i said pineapple juice he took a note as apple juice.

I was expecting a bill amount for arround 6K. One lobster which weigh 600 grams was priced 2000 bucks, which i felt too costly, it was good though. The chinese food was good but i don't think it is worth for what we pay. We seven of us were able to make a bill for 10K+. I don't find any dish to name the resturant. The pineapple raita was good, even that was also screwd up when we ordered for the second time.

I don't feel this as a "must visit" resturant, If are going with you girl friend then this could be the resturant otherwise please avoid.

Rain Forest - Theme Restaurant

Rain forest is one of my favourite restaurant here in Chennai. It is located at the Adayar signal corner under the flyover. They still maintain the quality of the food even after the huge visitors they developed. The best part is that you get all these at a very reasonable price.

The interior is very good and you feel like dining inside a forest. They allow booking only in weekdays, however in weekends you can wait for 30-45 mins to get your slot. You can wait in the waiting area till you get your table. You will also get a welcome drink during the wait.

Once you are in you will get the food served quick. You will get a complementary pappad once you are seated. You can choose from a wide range of food in the menu given. I like all the Non-Veg dishes. The pukked Fish, Fish tikka, Fish and Chips all are my favourites here. You can create your own pasta for your taste.

You can choose from Indian, Continental, Italian, Thai and Chinese foods. They do have a good choice for vegetarian dishes too. Food is decently priced and i feel it is cheep for such a restaurant here in Chennai.

It is good for a visit here with your friends or family.

Dinner @ Cornucopia

I visited Cornucopia two weeks back for my friend's marriage treat. This is my first visit. It is located in Cenotaph Road near to Dhaba Express. It is a good continental restaurant.

We had a tough time in reaching the place as the road work is in progress in cenotaph Road. The ambiance is good. The service is good and fast. I don't get good options for non-veg starters. It is worth dining there. The price is decent. The chef is very friendly and helps out to choose the right menu. He was very kind in assisting us. Main courses are also good even it don't have a huge list to choose from. They should change the interiors as it was weared. The desserts are really a treat for us as we are all chocolate lovers. Chocolate topped ice cream mud-pie was awesome. Don't miss this , i loved this most.

Merits :

  • Decent Price
  • Good Ambience
  • Good food & Desserts
De-Merits:
  • interiors has to be improved
  • Need to add some more non-veg starters

I can say it is a place worth visiting so don't miss it.

Oscar Maestro - A.R Rahman

When i came to know about Oscar results, A.R Rahman winning 2 Oscars my joy knew no bounds. The awards for the Best Original Score and the Best Original Song 'Jai Ho'. Hollywood finally discovers what we in india have known for two decades: the genius of AR Rahman

I am a great fan of A.R Rahman from the days when he was doing adds for Reegal & Neo Coffee. I love all his albums and i mostly used to hear only his tracks. He has a great voice and good Sound Engineering skills. He is a gifted man. The best part is he still remains the same even after reaching the unreachables. I dont' know how a man like him is humble like this. I don't think that we will get such a man in the near feature.

I have all his collections and i can't list down my favourites of Rahman sir as it has all the albums from him. You can check my ilike profile and i am very proud to be the top listener of Rahman. I love to hear the songs sung by him. We as indians should feel proud to get him in our soil. I don't have to say anything more as we all know about him and love him.

May god showers his blessing over this great man and give him long life. I pray for you sir .
