Chetinad & Chetinad Food

Deep in the south of India's southernmost state, Tamil Nadu, the Land of the Tamils, is Chettinad, the land of the Nattukottai Chettiars, which includes Karaikudi and 74 other villages. Karaikudi is its chief town. Karaikudi is about 425km from Madras (chennai), the capital of Tamil Nadu and the gateway to South India.

The land chetinad holds the pride of making the following Legends Dr Alagappa Chettiar,P. Chidambaram, Kaviarasar Kannadasan , Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar

Chettinad food is essentially spicy, with a standard full meal consisting of cooked dhal, eggplantsambar, ghee for flavouring rice, and sweet meats like payasam and paal paniyaram. The classical "kara kozhambu" is widely regarded as the best tasting south Indian sambar.
No wonder chetinad food became famous across continents.

I love chetinad food even i am not from that region. Even we have a lot of chetinad hotels in chennai Anjappar is my choice. They have their branches all across chennai. I will make a post about Anjappar separately as it is my favorite restaurant here.
